How to choose your cruise cabin
Inside, ocean view, balcony or suite — what you really get and when to pay more.

Your cabin is the biggest decision after the itinerary. The good news: there is no wrong answer, only the right one for your trip.
The four main cabin types
- Inside: no window, lowest price, perfect if you only sleep there
- Ocean view: a window or porthole for natural light
- Balcony: private outdoor space — great for scenic routes like the fjords
- Suite: more space, priority services and often extra perks
Location matters
Midship, lower decks move the least — ideal if you worry about seasickness. Avoid cabins directly under the pool deck or above the theatre if you are a light sleeper.
Port-intensive itinerary? An inside cabin can be the smartest money you save.
