Marseille: cruise port guide

France's big Mediterranean cruise port: ships berth at the Marseille Provence Cruise Terminal, outside the city centre.

Getting into town

The cruise terminals (MPCT and terminals A–E) are reached through Gate 4 of the port. On call days, city bus 35T links the terminal to La Joliette, where metro line 2 runs to the centre.

What to do

According to the Marseille Tourist Office:

  • Notre-Dame de la Garde, Marseille's most visited monument, with 360° views from 154 m; reach it on foot, by bus or on the tourist train
  • The Old Port (Vieux-Port), the historic heart of the city since Greek times, with the Norman Foster-designed Ombrière shade canopy
  • A Ferry Boat mini-cruise across the Old Port
  • The morning fish market and the Tuesday/Saturday flower market at the Old Port
  • Fort Saint-Jean and Fort Saint-Nicolas guarding the harbour entrance
